Terry and Kiriaki Carypidis migrated to Australia in 1953 to start new life. After the war, they took the opportunity to leave Greece when an opportunity arose in Australia.

Despite the trying times and although they had little in terms of money, there was always an abundance when it came to giving their time and love, and there was always food and wine to be shared. It was (and still is) the one joy in life – sitting around the table sharing a meal and wine with family.

In 1969, they heard about a plot of fertile land for sale in Virginia, and in 1974. Terry and his sons, Ken and Chris, planted their very first grapes using the methods that Terry had seen and tended to at home in Greece.

Chris & Ken

In 1998, Ken began his journey into the wine industry producing his first sparkling which was sold into local and interstate restaurants, then in 2007, together with his daughters, Jackie, Teresa and Natalie, they created Pure Vision. The property underwent a strict 3-year conversion process and today, the company proudly operates 140 acres of certified organic vines in the Adelaide Plains region and are one of Australia’s leading producers of organic wine.

The wines have been made without the use of synthetic pesticides, herbicides, fertilisers or chemicals in the vineyard and in the winery, creating a healthy soil system to help the grapevine produce grapes of the highest flavour making beautiful wines that a true reflection of this wonderful region. The wines are low in sulphur and made with minimal winemaking intervention – the way wine should be made!

All of the organic wines are certified organic by ACO (www.aco.net.au) which is one of Australia’s leading certifying bodies for organic products.

Ken has over 40 years’ experience in viticulture and is passionate about sustainable farming, bringing to the table extensive knowledge when it comes to organic farming practices. He is visionary and has always looked to the future to create the best for his farm and family.

Virginia is an ideal grape growing region as it has little rainfall during the growing season. Summers are quite hot and dry which is perfect for grape growing and with the south-westerly sea breezes, the vines get that little bit of relief after a hot day. We are also fortunate enough to be able to irrigate when required. This ideal climate along with our rich fertile soils are the perfect combination for growing our organic grapes,” says Ken.

The organic industry has grown rapidly over the past 5 years as more and more consumers opt for healthier alternatives. This has been evident in organic wine sales and today, the wines can be found nationally in Dan Murphy’s and BWS stores.

Ken says, “We’re also getting interest from the Asian markets, in particular China and Singapore who are keen to take up an organic lifestyle, and now that we have our Chinese organic certification, we expect to see more growth in these markets .”

The Pure Vision organic wine range includes a delightful selection of stylish organic red and white wines including Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Preservative Free Shiraz, Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon Blanc and a new Rosé that will rock your world of senses!
