War on Waste - Northern Adelaide Plains

A key aim of the Northern Adelaide Plains Food Cluster is to create a circular economy to better manage horticulture industry waste. It is our belief that the key to achieving this is to realise value contained within waste streams.

We are partnering with Sustaining Endeavour to undertake a staged series of activities to unlock this potential. The first was a review of waste issues to inform our Collaborative Plan. A copy of the review together with a recommended future approach is available here. Now we are undertaking a series of workshops to create connections and showcase solutions.

Our first workshop in September 2020 was a great success and showcased the use of locally made bioplastic mulch film as a way of avoiding waste. It also included an informative session on building healthy soil by well recognised expert Tim Marshall.
