Riverland Protective Cropping Expo

The Riverland Protective Cropping Expo, held on 20 August 2026 at the Berri Hotel, brought together Riverland growers, industry experts, technology providers, financial advisers and government representatives to explore the opportunities and practical realities of protected cropping.

Co-hosted by CCW Co-operative Limited and the Northern Adelaide Plains Food Cluster (NAPFC) as part of CCW’s Transforming the Riverland Project, funded by PIRSA, the event was developed in response to growing interest from Riverland growers looking at diversification opportunities alongside viticulture.

Across the day, seven expert speakers shared practical insights into plant nutrition, greenhouse structures and technology, irrigation automation, integrated pest management, finance and investment, alongside a firsthand grower perspective on making the move into protected cropping. Two panel discussions and a live industry expo also gave growers the opportunity to ask questions, connect directly with industry specialists and gain a clearer understanding of the costs, technology, risks and opportunities involved.

The event marked an important step in strengthening connections between the Riverland and Adelaide Plains and supporting growers to make informed decisions about the future of their businesses.
