Meet the Grower - The Le family

This week let's meet the Le family who proudly grow capsicums and chillies on the Adelaide Plains.

In our commitment to showcasing our diverse community through the Grown on the Adelaide Plains branding initiative, we’re excited to introduce you to some of the proud growers and producers that are responsible for the food we love.

Meet the Le family (from left to right: Duc Tan Le, Aidan Tri Vo, Quoc Phong Duong (David) and Holly Le). Their family has been farming capsicums on the Adelaide Plains for three generations.

We chatted to Holly Le to find out more about her history with the Adelaide Plains Food Region and her vision for its future. Here’s what she had to say:

What do you love most about the Adelaide Plains Food Region?

We really love the soil and the climate on the Adelaide Plains. We take a lot of pride in being a big part of the industry here and I love connecting with other growers.

Could you share a bit of your history with this region? How long have you been involved in production here?

I've been part of this region since day one—I grew up right here on our farm and it's been home for my entire life. My parents first arrived on the Adelaide Plains back in 1986. They started out working for other growers before taking the leap to establish our own business which now involves three generations of our family.

How do you see the future of the Adelaide Plains Food Region and what role do you hope to play in it?

I’d love to see the Adelaide Plains become a leader in technology within the horticulture sector and would love to explore how AI (artificial intelligence) will enhance the sustainability of the food industry. My vision for the Adelaide Plains is for greater cohesion amongst the cultures, and for the consumers to become aware of the diversity and understanding of the importance of the Adelaide Plains to the food chain.
